Shawn Horcoff was born on September 17, 1978 in Trail, British Columbia, Canada. His occupation is as a professional ice hockey player currently playing for the Edmonton Oilers ( Who is part of the National Hockey League, NHL ).

Horcoff played for Muchugan State University in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association. Twice was he named CCHA All-Academic Team and in the 1999-2000 season he was a first team all-star and was named the CCHA Player of the Year. He was selected during the 1998 NHL Entry draft in the fourth round, 99th overall by the Edmonton Oilers. Once he left university he was signed by the team who drafted him, the Oilers and got sent to their AHL affiliate, the Hamilton Bulldogs.

However, due to his fantastic play in Hamilton, Horcoff only played 26 games ( over 2 seasons ) with the Bulldogs. He made his NHL debut in the 2000-2001 season and has been playing there since. During the NHL lockout, he went over to Sweden to play for Mora IK of the Elitserien. Many say it was a turning point for him as he was one of the best scorers of the season, gaining 46 points in 50 games thus being tied for 3rd overall at the end of the season. After the lockout was over, Horcoff went back to the NHL and recorded his best season so far where he notched 22 goals and 51 assists equaling 73 points in 79 games played.

In July of 2006, Horcoff was re-signed by the Oilers to a three year contract.
